The Dating Life
My number one focus was my son. I didn’t want someone who had a major night life and tried to get me to do the same. It would have just made me go backwards and relive a life I didn’t want to live anymore.
End of School, Start of Summer
I have committed this summer to spend my time loving on them. I have decided to put down my laundry and remember to run, laugh, and be silly.
The Comparison Game
That glare from another person at the grocery store when my toddler decides it’s the perfect place to throw a tantrum…it hurts. It cuts deep straight to this mama’s tender heart, even though I know we have all been there.
On Getting Things Done
It is so tempting to constantly be telling my people, “I need to get things done, so you need to go play.” There is certainly a time for that, but it is far more important that I show these little ones that I am willing to be interrupted for them.
A Few Things I Have Learned
That space between your neck and shoulder was specifically designed for a baby’s head to rest…a kiss always makes a boo boo feel better…macaroni and cheese is a completely acceptable dinner…love at first sight is real…and lastly, motherhood is HARD.
Parenthood is not for the weak. But God has entrusted me with these precious lives, so I will continue to search for that balance of rest and being the present Mom I am called to be.
Sometimes I don’t like being a Parent
We have to choose every day which kind of parent we are going to be. Do you want to be your child’s friend, or do you want to plant seeds of good, solid character at their core? Are you going to choose the hard path, or the fun one?
So this Valentine’s Day, celebrate the gift of love and that special someone in your life. Get dressed up, buy a fun card, and go on a date. Just remember to not place so many expectations on that one night. He may not buy you a card or get you flowers. Is it really that big of a deal?
Such mundane tasks seem just that some days. Mundane. Ordinary. Another pile of dirty laundry to wash, another load of dishes to throw in the dishwasher, another diaper changed, another meal cooked...
