The Hope Center opened in a donated doctor’s office in Berne on January 17, 1992. During our first year, we served 40 women. Ten years later we realized a need for more space. Community members rallied together to raise additional funds through a Walk for Life and a banquet which helped with the purchasing and renovating of the current Berne office. It was at this time that an ultrasound machine was donated.
In 2005, volunteers from the community, Berne Rotary, and our Board of Directors gave over 700 hours to renovate the Berne office; furniture and interior décor were donated; a Nurse Manager was hired; additional fundraising events and a grant helped fund our medical conversion. The Hope Center converted to the Hope Clinic, offering on-site ultrasound verification of pregnancy.
Three years later, the Hope Clinic joyfully merged with Decatur Life Choice Pregnancy Center and opened a satellite office in Decatur on April 8, 2009. Later that year, an ultrasound machine was purchased for the Decatur office.
We have experienced significant growth over the years and serve almost 500 clients annually! As we became more established in the Decatur community, we realized a growing need to expand our vision and our services to meet the increasing needs of our clients.
Our first step was purchasing a bigger office in Decatur. Little did we know when we began renting office space in 2009 that we were in the exact building we now have purchased as of August 31, 2012! We dedicated the completed renovation of the Clinic on Friday, January 19, 2014.
